Members newsletter – May, 2026
‘With the Fans, For the Fans’
In this newsletter, we mark 12 months since the launch of BFCISA and reflect on a significant first year for the association. Over that time, we have grown into a fully member-led organisation, shaped directly by your input and engagement. We also introduce the full committee, now Officer roles have been confirmed, as we look ahead to the next stage of BFCISA’s development.
Please feel free to reply directly to this email with your thoughts, experiences, or issues as your input directly shapes our work.

In Brief – This month:
The BFCISA committee have formally met for the first time and agreed Officer roles, we mark one year since our launch, share a reminder of the upcoming Understanding Burnley FC’s Finances event, congratulate Burnley FC Women on their promotion and thank Scott Parker for his time at the club.

Introducing the first BFCISA Committee:
At our first Annual General Meeting (AGM), the results of the committee elections were announced, with 12 nominees elected to represent members.
The committee have since met for the first time and, in line with the constitution, Officer roles have now been agreed. Alongside the core roles of Chair, Vice Chair, Communications, Membership, Treasurer and Secretary, we have also appointed a Women’s Representative and a Disabled Supporters Representative.
Please see the attached document for an introduction to committee members and their roles.
This season, we have worked around the four priorities set by members in our July 2025 survey (Ticketing, Supporter Representation & Communication, Ground Facilities & Issues, and Heritage & Branding). We will shortly be engaging with members again to review and update these priorities where needed.

Celebrating One Year of BFCISA:
This month marks one year since the formal launch of BFCISA and provides an opportunity to reflect on how far the association has come in a short space of time.
What began in August 2024 as a small group of volunteers has developed into a structured, member-led organisation. By October, a wider call for volunteers led to the formation of an interim Steering Group, which laid the groundwork for everything that followed, including the drafting of a constitution and statement of values in early 2025.
The association formally launched in May 2025, gaining early traction through local media and podcasts. The following month, Barry Kilby was announced as Honorary President, providing a strong link to the club’s heritage. Over the summer, a member survey helped establish clear priorities, ensuring the direction of the group was shaped directly by members.
Since then, BFCISA have represented members across a range of issues. This has included early engagement with the club from August 2025 onwards, through both meetings and correspondence, raising individual member concerns as well as wider issues such as Cricket Field Stand changes. We have also supported improvements to matchday safety and experience, including new exit arrangements and the relocation of away team coaches. More recently, following member feedback, we delivered a detailed ticketing survey in January 2026 to better understand supporter experiences and feed this back to the club.
In March this year, BFCISA reached an important milestone with the first AGM and the election of the first committee, completing the transition to a fully democratic structure.
In just over a year, BFCISA has moved from an idea to an established voice for Burnley supporters. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far and helped shape what comes next.

Congratulations to BFC Women on Promotion:
BFCISA Vice Chair Sue Graham with players and the league trophy at the civic reception at Towneley Hall, 27 April 2026
1
On behalf of all members of Burnley FC Independent Supporters Association, we are extremely happy to congratulate Burnley Women’s team on their promotion from the FA Women’s National League North to the Women’s Super League 2.
Congratulations also go to the manager Ross Wallace.  Despite taking over during a difficult time for the club, Ross has shown great leadership and I know he is rightly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by all the women players.
Our Vice Chair, Sue Graham, had the great pleasure of meeting many of the players at Towneley Hall during the Civic Reception given to celebrate their promotion. They are great ambassadors for the women’s game and will be an inspiration for all the young women’s football teams in and around Burnley who will now be looking to follow in their footsteps.
We wish them every success for the 2026/27 season!

Understanding Burnley FC’s Finances with Kieran Maguire:
1
A reminder about our exciting members-only event on Thursday 21 May at 7:30pm, as we will be hosting Understanding Burnley FC’s Finances, an online event with Kieran Maguire, widely regarded as one of the leading voices on football finance in the UK.
Following the recent release of the club’s latest accounts, we are aware many members will be starting to look through the detail and form their own views. We will be reviewing these as an association, and this event provides a timely opportunity to explore them in more depth. Kieran’s independent analysis will help break down the figures and provide context around what they mean for the club.
Kieran will present a review of Burnley FC’s 2024/25 accounts, breaking down the key figures and what they mean for the club in a clear and accessible way. There will then be time for members to ask questions directly, which should make for a really engaging session.
Questions can be submitted in advance here. New members who sign up ahead of the event can also attend.
We’ll be donating to Samaritans as Kieran has given his time free of charge. Any members who wish to make individual donations can do so here.
Joining instructions will be shared with all members ahead of the event, and we look forward to a unique and insightful evening.

Scott Parker leaves the club:
Yesterday the club announced the departure of Head Coach Scott Parker.
We would like to place on record our thanks for his time at the club, particularly for delivering a record-breaking 100-point promotion season in the Championship where we conceded just 16 goals in 46 matches, setting an English league record that will likely remain unbroken for many years to come. This will stand as a significant achievement, and we wish him all the best for the future.
The upcoming appointment will be an important one, with a clear need for stability after recent seasons and a focus on building a more consistent footing going forward.

A big thank you to all members who continue to send their feedback to our Matchday Experience requests. As ever, your feedback was compiled and sent to Nottingham Forest following our fixture at the City Ground.
If you have friends, family, colleagues or fellow Clarets that may be interested, continue to spread the word and get them to sign up through the following link –https://membermojo.co.uk/burnleyfcisa
As always, BFCISA is volunteer-led and open to anyone who’d like to help. If you’re interested in lending your skills in any way, please get in touch, especially if you can help us broaden the perspectives we represent.
